Mentoring Session
Please see guidelines for CDI mentoring sessions:
- The program lasts a total of 2 years, with 6 mentoring sessions during year 1 and sessions as needed during year 2. Meetings should be scheduled for every other month for the first year, starting in January.
- Meetings can occur by video conference, in person, or by phone. Due to the nature of the program, we assume that most meetings will be held via video conference and ask that you record those sessions when possible.
- Trainees are responsible for contacting their mentor to schedule mentoring sessions and for setting the agenda of each session.
- The content of mentoring sessions is confidential and is focused primarily on career issues rather than on science. Possible topics include: negotiation, challenges with local mentor, career goals and timeline, decisions about taking a position at a new institute, and publication strategies.
- If trainees request feedback on a written document (e.g., specific aims for a K application), we ask that they send the document 3 days in advance.
- Please submit feedback from your most recent mentoring sessions no later than one week post-meeting using the appropriate form below:
